Pantone Colour Of The Year 2024 – Peach Fuzz

Pantone Color of the Year-Peach Fuzz

Happy New Year!

Continuing a yearly tradition here at Lauren Jacobsen Design, we will delve into this year’s Pantone Color of the Year.

For 25 years, the color experts at the Pantone Color Institute have forecasted the color they believe will convey a powerful message globally. They scoured the world for over six months, looking at several art and design disciplines, fashion, and lifestyles, and they noticed peach tones were a common theme.

Peach Fuzz, a warm pastel shade nestled between pink and orange, is a choice of optimism rather than a pigment choice, reflecting everything that 2023 was not. It is meant to evoke kindness and embrace comfort. They hope that it will be more of a reflection of the new year. It may be a cry for peace.

Their choice will affect global color trends for home furnishings,
industrial design, fashion, graphic design, and product packaging.

“I think we can all look through these past years and be pretty clear that this has been a time of ongoing turmoil and that our need for nurturing empathy and compassion has grown ever stronger,”
Laurie Pressman
VP of the Pantone Color Institute

Every year, Pantone partners with several global brands to develop the power and emotion of that color in their design strategies.

Returning collaborators include Motorola, Spoonflower, and Cariuma. New partnerships for 2024 include Utltrafabrics, Polaroid, Ruggable, DSM-Firmenich, Dr.Best, Tealeaves, and Shades By Shan. Products include textiles, tennis shoes, rugs, make-up, phone accessories, instant film packs, nutritional items, and oral care items. Click here for more information on these partnerships.

At first glance, Peach Fuzz has a vintage feel. It is an interesting choice. The hue is reminiscent of a safe harbor and is a color I would use even for an entire room, but certainly in collaboration with other colors to bring its sophistication to bear. It definitely needs to be paired.
