Lauren’s Picks In Interior Design Decor

Lauren's Picks In Interiors

I thought we might have some fun showcasing some beautiful decor and styling in interior design.

This month I am beginning a new ‘feature’ within my Blog posts that we will call Lauren’s Picks.  These posts will give me an opportunity to show you some of the great work being done in home furnishings today.  From fine art, lighting, hardware and fabrics, to indoor and outdoor furniture, wall coverings and paint.  At times I will be showcasing the work of local artists as well.  These posts are meant to serve as a source of inspiration for any refurbishing you may be considering or possibly as motivation for a much-needed redesign.  As a designer from the Los Angeles area, I have the privilege to create living areas for homeowners in a very forgiving climate, one that is conducive to indoor and outdoor living most of the year so don’t be surprised if I show outdoor furnishings in the winter months.

For our first installment, we’re staying indoors for our inspiration.  I would like to introduce you to McGuire Furniture, a company that epitomizes the California lifestyle.  These are handcrafted, well designed pieces that I’m sure you will appreciate.

What do you think about the Minna Table?  It is made of stacks rattan coils, held together by rawhide x-bindings. With three finishes and various glass tops available, I could make this work in a dining room or a nook.

I also like the use of different chairs in this dining room.  Sometimes the mix is just the thing for a combination of styles and this setting is a great example.

There is great work being done by the folks at Dering Hall.  Founders Steven Gambrel and Peter Sallick created a company offering high-end design products for designers and inspirational design lifestyle shots for savvy consumers to consider when choosing their decor.  Art and furnishings from around the world are sourced here.

Lighting fixtures are key to room design.  Sometimes one may want a sleek look that envelopes the style and so I have chosen two that have such an effect.  With metals being so prominent in materials for such, I have opted to show you two that combine and old world sensitivity with a modern aesthetic.

One of the best experiences we have as interior designers is to find and incorporate such beautifully designed pieces into a home and having the ability to share them with you extends that pleasure.  I appreciate you taking the time to browse through my blog.
