Fall Color Forecast From Pantone – Cool

According to the Pantone Color Institute, color trends are taking on well-defined, gender-neutral, and nontraditional tones this fall.  Pantone has released a single color forecast for both men and women and whether in fashion or for the home, their choices are lush and smart.  Blue, yellow and reddish-browns are the dominant story—all in an effort to achieve calmness and bring in stability and confidence.

“Blue skies represent constancy as they are always above us. Grays give a feeling of stability, Red tones invite confidence and warmth, while the hot Pinkish Purples and Spicy Mustard Yellows suggest a touch of the exotic.”

– Leatrice Eiseman,  Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute™

With the return of cooler temperatures, this is a great time of year to incorporate earth tone colors into your home.  Adding autumnal touches will help you transition into the fall/winter season with the beauty of the fall colors.

Here are three of the colors from Pantone’s 2016 Color Trends palette.

These colors can be used in either a rich and robust way or in subtle and subdued hues. This week we focus on these three colors and feature fabrics and wallcoverings from Duralee and Robert Allen.  Our next Blog post will feature three more from their fall trend report.

BLUES

Sophisticated, versatile and beautiful, this year the blues are more muted, as opposed to the glossy colors from the last couple of years.  Pantone has two terrific shades in their new fall palette.  Colors that go beyond seasonal.

GREY

I really appreciate the world of greys. A grey room feels enveloping and promotes relaxation.  I find it calming and refined.  A perfect choice for the whole gender-neutral scenario and everything goes with it.

I close with a quote from Erinn Valencich—I couldn’t have said it better.

“I think design is moving back to its roots. It’s not about flash and the latest technology; it’s more about classic elements that make us feel good.”
