There is no secret that sophisticated travelers enjoy luxurious travel, and many choose to bring the interior design ideas home so they can enjoy the same comforts every day. Today, I’ll share some of my favorite designs for your dreaming pleasure.
You can even incorporate additional features in your home that you won’t see at even the best five star resorts.
Although I’ve stayed at many wonderful hotels, a few remain on my wish list…
The Singita Sasakwa Lodge, Tanzania, Africa, is a place I am dying to go! Look at this interior... I feel like I stepped into the movie Out of Africa and Robert Redford will come strolling in at any moment. This room is so well appointed! Even though the color palette is very neutral, the textures and furnishings are providing a magnificent story.

This is the Villingili Resort Maldives, located on the tiny island of Addu Atoll. Look at that view, I love the pool over the ocean and the overall color palette of relaxing blues as far as the eye can see.

Even without the spectacular location, you can still have a spa master bath. Can you see yourself in a bath like this at home? A beautiful deep tub, double vanities and beautiful natural light.

Spa baths provide relaxation from your hectic lifestyle, and can be incorporated into your home with careful planning. Plumbing fixtures add a sculptural element and especially tubs can be the focal point of your space.
This is my favorite tub from Pearl. If you’re thinking about installing a vessel tub, or any tub for that matter, your tub filler should include a hand spray for easy cleaning or washing your hair.

Vessel sinks add artistic flair to your space, and require careful planning especially if you like wall-mounted options for your faucets.

Your shower is an important design feature, and it can include body sprays, multiple shower heads, steam and a bench for relaxation. If you select a stone top for the seat, it is possible to add heat so the stone is not cold to the touch. It may not be possible to add heat in all installations, so please consult with me if you’re interested in this feature.
Lighting is crucial in the bathroom for make-up application and shaving. I recommend a combination of fixtures to provide the best task lighting. Wall sconces at the vanity with recessed halogens in the ceiling provide gentle light that minimizes shadows and enhances your features. I always recommend dimmers in the bathroom, and the lights can be switched separately for different uses.
