Introducing Rose Quartz and Serenity

Introducing Pantone Rose Quartz and Serenity

Pantone Colors of the Year 2016

The new year brings us a new Pantone Color of the Year.  Let’s take a look at what the experts at Pantone have chosen for their color trend in 2016.  This year we have two colors to celebrate and is the first time Pantone is blending two shades.  Although not a palette I have used, these soft hues do give a ‘light and airy’ essence to a room.

The thinking behind this pairing is to balance warm and cool colors.  Their psychology is that these colors will fulfill our yearning for reassurance and security.  The Rose Quartz conveys compassion and a sense of composure and Serenity brings feelings of respite and relaxation.

“Joined together Rose Quartz and Serenity demonstrate an inherent balance between a warmer embracing rose tone and the cooler tranquil blue, reflection connection and wellness as well as a soothing sense of order and peace.”

– Leatrice Wiseman, Executive Director, Pantone Color Institute®

Architectural Digest has a wonderful column on decorating with these colors and their room examples are terrific.  The first shot in the slideshow (1/21) Is a living room that is simple exquisite.  This is one pampered cat…

Here are a few examples that incorporate these colors into furnishing such as rugs, upholstery and wallpaper and are amenable to being paired with bold, earthy styling.

What more can I say?  The more I look at this combination, the more I appreciate Pantone’s choice, or better, their pairing.
