Entertaining And Setting A Holiday Table

Entertaining And Setting A Holiday Table

At the end of every project, I thoroughly enjoy adding the finishing touches to the home.  The “styling” phase of the design—adding the clients’ personal items, artwork, new décor and accessories—working collaboratively to perfect the space, is great fun and very satisfying.

Giving your home that festive, holiday flare when hosting a meal or having a party is a similar experience.  As we prepare to entertain during the holidays, media outlets fill the ‘airwaves’ with great decorating tips and ideas while at the same time  stimulating our appetites with the wonderful cuisine that accompany the events we look forward to at this time of year.

When welcoming family and friends, I look to create a mood that is warm and hospitable.

It is our opportunity to set a traditional table but, I really like adding rustic and elegant accents as well.  Why not do all three?  The work of former advertising executive, now event planner and author Jenny Steffens Hobick fills that bill nicely.  She has incorporated all three styles in her table settings.

Another great example of the mix of elegant fabrics and organic elements is by Interior Stylist and Visual Merchandiser Lynda Quintero-Davids of Focal Point Styling.

If you prefer a simple table and quick solution, you might want to bring in a table runner to complete your table.  These runners by Kim Seybert use glass, wood and beads and are quite the statement.

One can appreciate the lean and sophisticated look of the table below.  This table has symmetrical and asymmetrical elements—a combination completely derived from the natural world.

A beautiful dining room table will give your friends and family a warm welcome and they will fully appreciate your efforts.  Have a great autumn season.
